Something sweet will always go down well after a delicious meal but what do you do if you’ve eaten so much over your first two courses that you simply don’t have room for pudding? The answer is simple… drink a cocktail, of course!
Cocktails are always a good choice, no matter the time of day, but they’re the perfect way to finish off a fantastic feast… the only problem is there’s so much choice that you’ll still be at the bar a year later, trying to make up your mind!
If you love your margaritas, what about going for a dulce de tequila? Check out this recipe on The Spruce Eats for this tequila candy drink that features cognac, orange liqueur, lime juice, agave nectar and a deliciously sugary rim… perfect for pudding, don’t you think? It also only takes a few minutes to make so you can satisfy your sweet tooth immediately.
Those of you who prefer to end a meal with a cup of coffee can do this in cocktail form, as well. The obvious choice is the espresso martini, but what about a dark and stormy that features tequila, rum, ginger beer and some freshly brewed espresso?
Or you could go for a black Russian instead, made using vodka, coffee liqueur and Coke, with a maraschino cherry on the top.
One classic after-dinner cocktail is the Brandy Alexander, which features brandy (obviously!), dark creme de cacao, double cream and a little sprinkling of nutmeg. Just mix everything together in a shaker with some ice, then strain into a cocktail glass. Grate fresh nutmeg over the glass and enjoy.
